Both of your comments about this photo fascinate me because they are pretty much the exact same thoughts I had! I also lOVED the contrast and harmony that existed between the shiny red and matte yellow apples. And when I looked at my first shot on the camera, I thought, "It looks like a Mark Rothko painting...just a photo with more detail" (well except that I couldn't remember his name and had to look it up when I got home) We must have great minds for we think alike :)
